Where is Conway
Located just a few miles inland from Myrtle Beach, Conway is one of the oldest towns in the state of South Carolina. It came into being in 1734 as part of the original settling of this part of South Carolina. For much of its early life, the town went by the name of Kingston. Many residents fought in the Revolutionary War. After the Revolution, many residents wanted rid of the town’s name, which was in honor of King George II. They renamed the area around the courthouse from Kingston to Conway borough. In 1883, the name shortened permanently to Conway.
