Murrells Inlet Attractions
– Having Fun Inland with Murrells Inlet Attractions
A secret among Murrells Inlet attractions is Brookgreen Gardens. This extensive outdoor garden is a great place to take in the natural beauty of this area of South Carolina. The gardens cover 9000 acres of protected woodlands. It is a National Historic Trust Site. The original owner of this garden was Anna Hyatt Huntington, a leading female sculptor of the early 1900s. The outdoor displays offer over 300 sculptures for visitors to enjoy. Two enclosed galleries offer tours of some of the best pieces in the collection. You can go down various trails to see how the land looked in the past. The vast majority of the land is a natural preserve.
If nature continues to call, then you need to see another of the natural Murrells Inlet attractions: Huntington Beach State Park. This land was another piece of the estate left by Anna Hyatt Huntington and her husband Archer Huntington. This park offers a glimpse of what life was like on the beaches before tourism arrived. You can go camping along the beach. You can cast a line from the jetties or from the surf line. You can tour Atalaya, the home of the Huntingtons. You will enjoy the tours and paths that this park offers year round. There are seasonal activities available for children also.
If you want something a bit different, you should take in Pirate Adventures. This is a great favorite of children. The children and adults can dress up like pirates and then go for a boat ride like real pirates. The children have the ability to play pirates on a boat. Many will remember that gift for a life time. The adults have fun watching the children get into character. Many children find they want to go again and again. It is a perfect diversion from another day at the beach. It offers something for the younger children that often have boredom in natural tours.
